…TV round-up

This has been a great week for TV. The Olympics in themselves could be one post, but I’m going to sum them up in a brief paragraph.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have been favorite nights. Tuesday: men’s short program ice skating, Wednesday: speed skating and men half-pipe snowboarding, Thursday: women’s half-pipe and men’s free skate. America has been rocking it. The three stand-out athletes for me are: Shani Davis, Evan Lysacek, and Shaun White.  Davis  wanted to feel like he was at home when competing in Vancouver, so he moved to train there. For this he won his second gold medal. Lysacek skated two AMAZING programs. And while Russia believes they were cheated I would have to disagree. Not because I am an american, but because Lyscek’s program was cleaner, better choreographed, and showed how much stamina he has by not front-loading the routine. So, congrats to Lysacek! And last but not least White. What can I say. The guy is UNREAL!  He claimed the gold medal on his first run down the pipe without even doing his hardest, never before seen trick. On his second run he could have rode straight down the middle and still won, but he chose to go out with style and stick the landing of his double McTwist. It was SWEET! If you haven’t watched it, it’s a must!

Even with the Olympics I found time to fit in some of my usual shows.

“Amazing Race” has started back up. I need one more episode to choose my favorite team, but I think it is going to be a good season.

“Life Unexpected” is my favorite show of the winter season. The CW calls it a mix of “Juno” and “Gilmore Girls.” No news on whether they have been signed on for a whole season, but I am crossing my fingers. Check it out.

“American Idol” was on the back-burner this week, but I am excited the top 24 have finally been chosen. There are quite a few talented people this year. I have a feeling it’s going to be a tough season. I am looking forward to it. Most of the people I thought should go through made it with exception of Angela Martin. I wanted to cry when she didn’t make it. Her story is so heart wrenching. But Ellen brought her on her show, told her story, let her perform and had a great surprise for her. Check it out if you care.

Speaking of Ellen, she brought a baton twirler from Japan on her show this week. For those of you who know me personally, you know I twirled baton when I was in elementary school. So, this clip was very appealing to me. But what people don’t know, who are not in the sport /hobby (go ahead, give me the comments, if this isn’t a sport than curling and rhythmic gymnastics/trampoline need to be taken out of the Olympics) may see this routine as being crazy. I do think she is very good. She is fast. The best part of her routine is her rolls section, but everything else I have seen people do in competition. So, it wasn’t anything spectacular to me.

Of course there was “Lost.” This week rocked my world. It was great to see Locke’s flash sideways. We got to understand more about where the numbers come from. And what Flocke (fake Locke) wants to do. Sawyer was heart wrenching. I’m hoping for him to con Flocke. We see a young Jacob (at least in my theory) appearing to Flocke, reminding him of the rules. And we also see Ben as a teacher in Locke’s flash sideways. Probably my favorite scene of the night. Lots to think about. If you are an avid watcher and don’t read the PopCandy blog, you should. The readers have some great conversations about the show. There are also quite a few podcasts I listen to that give me insight of possible theories. If you want to know about those just post a comment and I’ll be sure to get the info. to you.

Last two reality shows: “Project Runway” & “Survivor.” “Runway” was fun. I liked the little girls as models and then throwing in the twist of also making an outfit for the model. Definitely glad Janeane got kicked off. She was becoming too whiny and was not doing well at all. I loved Seth Aaron’s outfit. His style was very urban/modern and the little touches are what made it. The hoodie was a great idea and the little purse was an awesome addition for that age. He did have an advantage because he has a daughter, but it’s great he was able to use the knowledge to win.

“Survivor” was intense. Even though I don’t like the villains, they make for great entertainment. Glad Boston Rob is OK after his spill in the jungle. I was disappointed the Heroes lost again and seem completely divided now. James needs to simmer down a little. I understand his points, but no need to pop a vain. From the preview of next week, it may just get worse. They all need to sit in a circle around the campfire and work things out. I’m cheering for Colby! And by the way, can Russell please put some pants on?! So tired of seeing him just walk around in his underwear.

Who knew I could write so much about TV…it’s only going to get worse when I move in 3 weeks and get AT&T     U-verse. It is going to change my life, haha. It will especially help for my Thursday night line-up when I have 4 shows on at 7pm.

Until next time…PEACE OUT!

PS I am also watching the new lawyer show on ABC “The Deep End” and enjoying it, but I have no idea what they are going to do when “FlashForward” comes back on. After the Olympics I am looking forward to “The Office,” “Community,” and “Vampire Diaries” resuming. And in the great month of April it will be time for more “GLEE!”
