Hey all! Sorry I have not posted in over a week. Things have been crazy. I had company in town since last Thursday. One of the students from our ministry back in CA came for a visit. Actually I will share with you a little bit about Amelia. She went with the team that I was on to Peru a year and a half ago. She loved the trip and knew she wanted to go back. This last summer her and another girl from our ministry back in Cali, Ashley, went back for a month. Pretty much Amelia realized that Peru is where she should be for now, so she decided she was going to go back for a year internship. So, before she headed to Peru, which is where she is now, she stopped into Austin to visit the Cagle’s and me.
It was a great weekend with Amelia. We go to do some fun things. Went the movies twice. Once for “Twilight” (it’s in the dollar theater here now…how can you pass that up? Movie and popcorn for $4) and then we saw “He’s Just Not That Into You.” We also ate so much! Amelia had a lot of firsts here: Sonic, Chick-Fil-A, Hula Hut, Rudy’s BBQ, and Blue Belle ice cream! Also, Cyndi (my friend Jenna’s mom) was in town visiting as well and we got to enjoy her amazing homemade pizza’s and pies. So good! (Makes me think of Andrew in Boston, haha)
I got to show Amelia the Domain, which is a really nice outdoor shopping place…this picture is of Amelia wanting to be a peacock…they have some fun little benches here. Oh and I found out they are adding a BJ’s here, so one more piece of home to follow me 🙂 Pizookie will be here soon!
Next we went to Mount Bonnel. It is an amazing lookout over the river. Some beautiful homes right off of it. I would love to live there, haha. In my wildest dreams.
After the Mount I took her to Zilker Park. There is lots to explore here. We stopped at the Botanical Gardens and had some fun taking pictures here. And I found one of my favorite things. They have a big water fall! LOVE IT! So here is my photo of this. I will definitely be coming back here. I will probably go back with a book and just sit there next to it. Eventually when I get a house I plan on putting one of these in my backyard, haha.
We then explored downtown, saw the University, the Capital, and 6th Street. So it was definitely a packed day!
On Monday I had to take Amelia to the airport and now she is off on her new adventure.
A little update on the church name. Thanks for all of you who are voting. We are still trying to decide the name, but we will be deciding this week. One piece of bad news: We found out there is a Rock Pointe Church in a town near by, so even though that one seemed to be getting the most votes we will have to take that out of the running.
OK, I think that is enough for today. I will post again soon. So until next time…PEACE OUT!
