So, last week I got a little off track with my blogging, so I have still not finished my SXSW adventures. I will try and fit the last two days into this blog.
Thursday was a pretty amazing night. Before we even go to SXSW, I took Nick and Ash to Mighty Fine Burgers. Which is the best burger place out here. They loved it so much, it was their fav. place I took them to. After we went to the Domain, its a cool shopping center out here and walked around and had some starbucks and chatted. We also took some fun pics:
You can see Nick’s legs in the reflection of my sunglasses 🙂
Then we headed to go pick up Ryn, but before we picked up some of the world famous Round Rock Donuts. They are sooooo good. It was Ryn’s fav. food she had here, and she doesn’t even like donuts usually. She was so excited about them she brought some home for Steph and Andrew and she wanted to mail some to her parents, haha. After all the food we went to downtown.
The night began with a band that I have a loved for awhile called Castledoor. There were not too many people there, which was a bummer for them, but they did so good. And what was even better is their new full length album was for sale there. I was the first one to get it 🙂
After that we had to haul butt over to La Zona Rosa, which is on the opposite side of sxsw, so we took a pedicab…my first one! The guy was really nice. At La Zona Erin McCarley was playing. I love her! You should check her out if you don’t know who she is. Beautiful singer/songwriter. We stayed for one song of Tori Amos, with also a sighting of Perez Hilton, he introduced her, which Joe could have been there for that one.
And then we headed to good ol’ Stubbs to see Andrew Bird and Ben Harper. We didn’t get in for Andrew, kind of bummed. While waiting in line my friend Ryn was on the curb eating her delicious sxsw hot dog, when a man approached her and offered his vip pass! So lucky! So she got in about 20 minutes before the rest of us. When we finally got in we went straight the sound booth because we found out that it is a good place to see the show and hear…plus Nick just likes to watch everything that goes on. Ryn texts me and says we should by where she is cause she is closer, but I told her I would pass because I didn’t feel like fighting through the crowds again. A little time goes by and she texts me again, this time it says “Matthew McConaughey is right next to me.”

At that I was on my way to where she was! When I got to her I almost lost it, haha! I could seriously literally reach out my arm and touch him, that’s how close I was. And that’s where I remained for the rest of the night. I definitely made eye contact a couple of times. he was totally laid back with a baseball cap, tennis shoes, drinkin’ a beer and telling stories with his friends the whole night. I so wanted to take a picture with him, but I didn’t want to draw attention to him and I felt like he should be able to be a normal person and just get to enjoy a concert with his friends. So, I kept my distance. But he does live here in town, so next time I see him, I’m not holding back, haha. I’m going to get that picture. Side note: I found out Sandra Bullock lives here too, so I plan on meeting her as well. Along with the Dixie Chicks. I have had the question posed to me by many “Is he as cute in person as he is in film?” And my answer is a resounding “YES!” haha
So that was Thursday…it took a little longer to describe it all than I thought, so I will just have to save Friday for tomorrow. Until next time…PEACE OUT!
Oh snap! I totally forgot a huge part…sorry this is ending up to be one of the longest posts ever and it is probably boring to everyone. But before we did the concerts we went to a part at the Belmont. It is a great place. Definitely going back. We went there because there was a party for a meet and greet with Whitney Matheson, a writer/blogger for USAToday. I read her blog Pop Candy everyday. It’s in my blog roll, you should check her out. Anyways, we found a table, got drinks, and hung out there. There was a band playing down stairs, so it was the perfect setting. The first band was kind of weird. But the second band, Seabirds, so good! Check them out as well! We met Whitney and that completed our night. We got cute little pins from her too! So worth it!
OK, I’m really done this time!
