I failed last week. I didn’t post on Thursday or Friday. There’s no good excuse, but I did take a fun little trip up to Dallas to visit my good and longtime friend Steven. It was wonderful. On Friday we got to go to the movies. We went to the North Park Mall. The mall was large and had every store you could think of. Movie theaters inside malls are not the nicest, at least the one’s that I have been to, so I wasn’t expecting much. The ticket window was on the second floor, but then we took the escalator to the third floor to the theater. When we walked in we had to pause. The theater was ginormous (in the famous words of Elf). It was as big as the IMAX in Sacramento. I think it could seat 473 people. There was an upstairs entrance/exit as well.
Oh, by the way, we decided to see “When in Rome.” We both love Kristen Bell. We decided to sit at the top hoping no one would sit around us. But of course we were wrong. Junior High girls sat right in front of us, so no foot rest 😦 When the previews began there were two middle aged women one row in front of us and a few seats to the left. They began laughing at every little thing. And it wasn’t just a chuckle, it was the most obnoxious, loud cackle ever. That continued the entire time and ultimately led to me not enjoying the movie as much as I may have. I am not making this up…I’m pretty sure one of them farted. I heard the fart and it got real quiet. I saw other people near us look in that direction as well. To add to all this, two teenage boys decided to sit next us, and came 20 minutes into the movie. They began to chat and look at their phones. About 30 min. later they left and walked in front of us. More distraction.
The movie was OK. Lately I have not been a big chick flick fan. The last one I loved was “The Proposal.” They are less and less appealing to me…maybe its my cynicism about love. But whatever it is they are not my favorite.
I did think Kristen Bell did well…nice rhyme. Everyone else was pretty cheesy. I can’t blame it all on them because I don’t know if anyone could have pulled off the lines. Don’t get me wrong. I did laugh at a few parts.
My recommendation…wait to rent it, but still see it. And I’m looking forward to my next trip to Dallas. I want to see another movie in that wonderful theater. Dallas takes the saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas” to heart.
Until next time…PEACE OUT!
