…where I went to country concert for the cure.

This week is my big concert week. I had three concerts to go to. The first one was Tuesday night. It was Concert for the Cure at Graham Central Station in good ol’ Pflugerville put on by KASE 101. I really didn’t know what I was going to see. My roommate bought me a ticket because she was going and really wanted me to go. She told me the artists that were going to be there, but I had no idea who they were. I just knew it was country music, which I like, so I wasn’t worried that I was going to hate it. I ended up loving it and coming home and downloading all three acts that performed.

First up was a group called Love & Theft. Before I even saw them I felt bad because on the ticket their name was spelled wrong. That is such a huge mistake. Also, my roomie who brought me to the concert knows one of the guys in the group. His name is Brian. He is the one with the longer hair.

She went to church with him. When we got there a table was set up to enter to do a meet and greet with the three acts. Everyone in my group signed-up except me. I didn’t know any of the acts, so I just thought I wouldn’t put myself out there and take someone else’s spot that really loved them and wanted to meet them. There was another option to enter the contest though that no one in my group could do and that was to send a text to a number. No one brought their phones in, so I sent one for a friend. And wouldn’t you know it, I got a text back saying I had won. So, I let my roomie Aimee’ and my friend Alicia go to the meet and greet. It was really cool cause Aimee’ got to see her friend and then they met all the acts and got signed pictures from all of them.

OK, onto the actual show. Love and Theft was really good. At first look you think they are going to be a little like Rascal Flatts. Granted, they are amazing vocalists and can all play the guitar, but their sound is a little different. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but when I went on iTunes they nailed it. Their sound is like Little Big Town – minus the girls. And their harmonies were amazing. This show was special because it was just them with their acoustic guitars. Which I happen to always enjoy. It makes the concert much more about the lyrics then all the bells and whistles. Even though I do like the bells and whistles at times as well. The only thing I will say is, whenever Stephen sings (the one in the middle of the pic) I think boy band 🙂 Not a totally bad thing, but that’s what my mind goes to.

Next up was Easton Corbin. When the DJ introduced him he said that Easton had been compared to George Strait-although on his myspace he credits Haggard, Jones, and Whitley as being his influences.  He came out and was definitely the most old school country sounding out of all three acts. Easton is young, but even though his voice made him sound older, his lyrics kept his songs fresh and relevant to a younger audience. Definitely went home and bought his EP on iTunes.

The last artist was a guy by the name of David Nail. Remember that name. Go look him up ASAP. He is going to be next big thing in country. I can almost guarantee it. He has a soulful country voice that I cannot get enough of. Even if my friends did say he seemed a little cocky at the meet and greet. He will definitely have the hearts of the women in the palm of his hand, but he really does have that star quality. I think he has a totally different sound than any other country entertainer and that will put him on the map. His tone is so melodic and refreshing for a country sound.

By the end of the night I had found three new country artists to enjoy and promote to everyone. So, don’t take my word for it, go check them out and see if they will be your new favorites as well.

Until next time…PEACE OUT!
