…where I flew to Cali and got a job!

Hello all! It has been awhile and I do truly apologize, but the past couple of weeks have been a little chaotic. As of right now I am beginning to type this blog in the Phoenix airport, but I will probably end up finishing it when I am back in Austin, seeing as how my plane just pulled up and I will be boarding soon. But oh how I do love the Sacramento and Phoenix airports for the free internet…I don’t understand why all airports do not do this…Austin needs to get on the ball with this. They have everything else including some good live music right there in the terminal.

FOUR DAYS LATER…As I said in my first paragraph, I would finish this blog when I got back to Austin, and it seems as though it has taken me a little longer than I had originally planned to finish this, so let me jump right in.

Last week I made a last minute trip back to California. Unfortunately it was not for good reasons. My Great Aunt Lee, aka Antonina, passed away. This was very sad, but I feel so lucky that I got the chance to know my great aunt. She was an amazing person and I will always cherish the memories I have of her. My Uncle Rudy is so very strong and I look forward to visiting with him again real soon. It was so nice to see him and to see he still has his hilarious sense of humor. It was so good to be able to be there to be with my family. I know my grandparents, especially my noni loved me being there. I unfortunately did not get to visit with some of the fam as much as I would have liked, but a couple live in Texas, so I can fix that. And I will also be back in Cali in 2 weeks, for my original visit back home that I have planned since Feb. I am going back for my cousin Jordan’s graduation from high school…I’m getting old. Me going back to Cali for the services would not have been possible if it weren’t for my Summit Church Family, and I truly appreciate everything that they have done for me.

While in Cali, I tried to make the most of my visit, by seeing and doing as much as I could. I fit in two movies: Wolverine & Star Trek. Both were so good! Every X-Men movie has left me wanting more and this one was no different. So I am way excited to hear that there are at least 3 other X-Men movies in the process of being made right now. Woot! And Star Trek was great. I am not a trekkie and I have never really watched the show, but I loved this. Maybe because it was JJ Abrams and I think Chris Pine is so dreamy, lol. I would love them to make another one.

I also got to hit up some great eateries. I of course stopped at the new In & Out in Folsom, that opened up right when I left…how convenient. I also got my Rubios & Pete’s fix in.

Rubios

I tried out the new fro yo place in EDH, Rockin Frog. It was alright, but I still love NuYo better, and I will be hittin’ that up next time I am in town. And I got to try out on of my second families new deli: San Fran Sourdough. I actually went there twice, lol. Love the Garlic Pesto, I think it is number 13, try it out. A few places I did not get to hit up that I am looking forward to going to when I come back in couple of weeks: Viscanti’s (I hope the new place is open :-)), Jack’s Urban Eats, BJ’s, and Mama Anne’s (I miss the Gondola made by Valerie).

I got to see quite a few people as well. It was a really good weekend for me to come back as it was Prom. And I love going to see the kids all dressed up and taking pics. It was a tradition that I had done for so long, so it was nice to do it again for the biggest dance of the year and the last one for the seniors.

I saw most of the junior girls that I am close to. As well as the seniors. Hopefully when I am back later this month some of the hello’s will get to be actual conversations. I also got to see my good friend Nick before he left for his big internship in Missouri and Tennessee for the summer. That was special. And when I go back I already have 6 families that want to have me over for dinner: Wagner’s, Osborn’s, Ruff’s, Ross’, Richard’s, and Stafford’s. So that pretty much takes up all my nights. But I would love to have breakfast, lunch or coffee with people, so please let me know what day would work for you, cause I have a feeling if I don’t schedule things, they may not happen. And I won’t be back in Cali for an extended time until December probably. So now is the time! But you are always welcome to come out to Austin 🙂

One more thing on my wish list for when I come home is to go to the lake. It is so full and beautiful right now. All I want to do is ride our sea-doos. So I am hoping that my step-dad is going to insure them by the time I am home so I can take advantage of that, the only week I will be in Cali for the summer.

OK, enough about Cali. As most of you probably already know I finally got a part time job. It is such a blessing. Yet again, another help from my church family here. One of the men on the core team works at a law firm and knew they had an opening in the office for a part time data entry/analyst. So he asked if I was interested and I jumped on it in a sec! I had an “interview” last week and I basically just had to say I wanted the job and I got it. So amazing.

I started on Monday and it has been great. I learned what I was going to be doing over a 2 day period and I think I have the hang of things. There have been some minor changes along the way, but it has been great. The people I work with are super nice.

So, now you are probably asking what I actually do. Well, there are three main things. The area we deal with are people who have not paid their traffic violations. What I do is cancel accounts when they are closed. I also link accounts, for people who have more than one violation and then my favorite thing I do is skip tracing. Skip tracing is where we may not have the most up-to-date info. for the people in our database and so I go on mainly three search engines online to try and find their information. Basically I get paid to be a stalker 🙂 But I think it is so fun…I feel like a little detective. I talked to my mom about it and she use to do skip tracing when she worked in the dental office and loved it as well, so it must be in my blood. The other perk about this job is that I have to work a min. of 25 hrs a week, but they will pay me up to 35…SWEET.

OK, I think that’s about it for now. This is another long one. Sorry. I will try to not wait so long to do my posts, so they don’t end up being novels.

Until next time…PEACE OUT!
