I should have done this Sunday night, but I didn’t. When the Grammy nominations came out I made predictions on 14 different categories. Here are the results:
Correct:
Album of the year-TSwift, Song of the year-Beyonce’, Best new artist-Zac Brown Band, Best pop performance by a group-Black Eyed Peas, Best pop vocal album by a group-Black Eyed Peas, Rap Collaboration-Jay-Z/Kanye/Rihanna, Best female country-TSwift, Best soundtrack-Slumdog
Who I wanted and did win:
Best record-Kings of Leon, Best pop male-Jason Mraz, Best male country-Keith Urban, Best country group-Lady A
Wrong: Best female-Beyonce’, Best rock group-Kings of Leon
From looking at the results, I did pretty darn good.
Performances you should YouTube if you didn’t see them on Sunday:
MJ Tribute was so good! Random group of artists, but all amazing in their own right. And MJ respected them all. They performed “Earth Song.”
Mary J. Blige & Andrea Bocelli-They did “Bridge over Troubled Water.” It was beautiful.
Lady Antebellum: I love “I Need You Now.” They could just sit there and sing it and I would still enjoy it.
Zac Brown Band: Who knew the piano guy could sing too? I really liked how they started with “America the Beautiful” and went into their most popular hit “Chicken Fried.”
Lady Gaga & Elton John: Gaga is always entertaining, but then she came out with Elton and sang “Your Song” from the piano. It was wonderful. I was expecting a little more and I think it would have hit the audience differently if they didn’t announce that Elton was going to sing with Gaga.
Bon Jovi/Jennifer Nettles: Love them both. And their voices sounds amazing together.
Green Day: There is a Broadway Show based around Green Day songs and the cast was there to sing 21 Guns with the band. I liked the Broadway rendition better than the original. Kind of makes me want to go see it.
Over rated:
TSWIFT-She did not do well. She sang “Fairytale” alright. But when she sang with Stevie Nicks, it was all down hill. And I felt bad for Nicks.
Pink-I think Pink is awesome. She did something similar on the MTV awards from a trapeze. Granted what she did was breathtaking, she spun around the entire time and sang live – I just wasn’t entertained.
Black Eyed Peas: Some of their performances are really cool, but not this one.
Alright, that’s enough about the Grammy’s. It’s Idol time. Until next time…PEACE OUT!
