…with Freebirds.

Before I dive into Freebird-just a quick note on the Bachelorette finale. I would like to boast that I did pick Ed and Kiptyn from the beginning. Everyone was of course asking who I wanted Jillian to pick and I said, Ed. My reason behind that…so I can have Kiptyn 🙂 HAHA. I haven’t been able to watch the “After the Final Rose” yet, but I have heard that they are both so happy, and Jillian was beaming. So, I am happy for her. I hope they end up like Trista & Ryan. And I’ll take Kiptyn any day!

kipNow the real reason for my post. Last Sunday my friend Alicia and I went to Freebirds Burritos. It was both of our first times. The atmosphere is a lot of fun, but loud. It didn’t bother me, but I know for some people that is a big turn off. I loved the theme throughout the store. There was motorcycle stuff everywhere and graffiti. Very hip. And they offer free wifi. What made this different than a lot of places was the option factor. You choose the size of your burrito, (When my friend Aaron Brackney comes out again, I want to take him here to order a super monster burrito…it is ginormous!), what kind of tortilla, meat (and when I chose chicken I got to choose if I wanted dark or light meat), and then they had all the fix-ins. I guess the big thing for Freebirds is to put BBQ sauce on your burrito. I didn’t do it, but I think I will try it next time. They also did combos, which is nice. The one thing that Chipotle beats them on is the chips. I had quite a few stale ones at Freebirds and I don’t think anyone can beat out the salt and lime chips at Chipotle.

Alicia and I were enjoying our food when one of the employees came to the table next to us and asked how everything was. I then proceeded to eavesdrop and hear that the customer was not happy with his nachos. He was complaining that the meat was cold and he didn’t like it. The worker tried to explain and figure out what the problem might be…he got pico di gallo, which easily points out how the mean may have gotten cold. The worker asked if he wanted it remade and customer said yes, and wanted steak instead this time. Throughout the whole conversation the employee was calm and respectful. I then watched him walk away and tell the manager what the situation was. The manager accepted what his employee said and was doing with no follow up questions. This was a testament to a great establishment and leadership. Needless to say, I will go back to Freebirds. And I hope they build one in Round Rock. Preferably in the shopping area by my apt. 🙂 Oh, and the store I went to was the one by the Domain by the way.

Continuing in the conversation about food and customer service I would like to share some personal experiences as I have grown up with. For me personally, it takes a lot to get me to complain about my order. Unless it is completely wrong, I’m probably not going to. I have even found a hair in my food and not said anything. I just don’t care that much, I feel bad, and I don’t like confrontation. But this is the exact opposite of how I have grown up.

I can probably count on one hand when I have gone to dinner with my mom and my Aunt Vickie and not had a problem with either our food or service. They are magnets for this. And they complain every time. My sister, cousin and I laugh about it. But I really dread these outings even though I do love spending time with my family. I have grown up with this for a long time. I saw this in my mom at an early stage in life in one of the most informal place possible…McDonalds.

Side note: Does anyone remember these happy meal toys? I loved these!

I’m sure you have all experienced a time where your food was not ready when you got to the pick-up window, so they ask you to pull around front and someone will come out and deliver it to you. Well, like usual, my mom had had some bad experiences with that. There had been numerous times when our order would be wrong or they would forget about us. So what does my mom do when she had had the final straw and was asked to that again? She simple told the employee, “No. I will wait right here until my food is ready.” I couldn’t believe it. I was in the backseat and proceeded to shrink down in my seat, so as to not be seen by anyone. I was so embarrassed. If anyone can beat that story I dare you.

I need to go to bed…so until next time…PEACE OUT!
