…about the return of fall TV

FALL TV IS BACK FINALLY!!! Which means the end of any kind of free time I had, as well as less time to use my Netflix membership. Here is a rundown of the shows I have watched so far:

Anderson:

I have been looking forward to this new show. Hoping it would fill my Oprah void and give me a little bit of time with my 2nd favorite news anchor Anderson Cooper (1st is Brian Williams), since I no longer have CNN. When discussing the show with my friend Joe he described it as “a mix  between Oprah and Ellen.” I definitely think this is a perfect description. The first episode was educational for me. Anderson interviewed Amy Winehouse’s family. I didn’t know too much about her history, so it was interesting to hear it from the people who were closest to her.

The 2nd episode was more fluff. Anderson had Kathy Griffin on, which is always a good time and makes for good television. He also did a segment with Snooki. They went tanning together. Two things I learned: One, you can get your teeth whitened at a tanning salon. Two, Anderson has some nice muscles. And actually a third, Snooki has done TOO MUCH spray tanning.

I’m looking forward to today’s episode that will have two women who were abandoned at birth. Should be interesting.

Ellen

Ellen’s new season started with a bang. It was fun to have Ashton Kutcher on, but the best part of the show is when Ellen brought on an elementary school principal from Las Vegas. The school helps the families of students that attend the school. For example, if the kids need clothes or glasses the school help provides those. Or if a family cannot pay their rent/mortgage/bills, the school helps pay them. The school asks for donations and many small businesses in the area participate. But of course it is hard to keep up with the demands. the principal shared that last week she had to choose to buy food or pay a bill for toilet paper. It is a very inspiring story. In the end Target ended up giving the school $100,000 and each kid got a new backpack filled with goodies. Got a little misty eyed.

Yesterday’s episode was fun because it shared Ellen’s visit with Taylor Swift when she was in LA. The combination of Ellen and TSwift is always hilarious. I wish they could make a weekly segment together. Ellen also had the Sidewinder, a band from the Missouri Air National Guard perform. I had not heard about their viral video, but they have real talent. One thing I learned: They are not allowed to receive a gift more than $25.

Ringer

The big return to TV for Sarah Michelle Gellar. It’s all everyone is talking about. The crazy, twisty plot definitely drew me in. As well as the other actors involved i.e. Nestor Carbonell and Kristoffer Polaha, and soon to be on Jason Dohring. The Pilot did a good job of trying to explain the main premise, as well as alluding to the many mysteries that will ensue in the future. I love when a show keeps secrets like this. My imagination goes wild. Which should be apparent from my love of the show Lost. I am hooked. The only negative point I have from the episode was the boat scene. It was very fake and hokey. Wish they could have done better with that. But all in all I am excited.

Parenthood

One of my favorite shows. I want to be a Braverman! I literally sit while watching it, trying to think of ways to make my family do things like they do. It’s kind of hard when my family is a little spread out, but I’m hoping to make a dance party at our next get together 🙂 As much as I am happy about the show being back on, there are a few things I did not like about the return: One: Haddie’s hair! It was driving me crazy! Please get rid of her perm! And I’m tired of her selfish attitude. Would love to have her mature ASAP. Two: I want good things to happen for Alex. He’s come so far. Three: I want Crosby to find real love. None of this one night stand crap. OK, I’m done venting. Still loved the show though and excited to see what’s in store for the rest of the season.

Alright…That’s all for now..But I will check in later this week to update you on the other shows I watch. What are you watching this season? Did you watch any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time…PEACE OUT!
