Project Runway! 8/01

Tonight was the season premiere of one of my favorite shows. I’m sure you’ve guessed it since it’s the title of the post. There are many reasons why I love the show.

Fashion designing seems like a fun and interesting career that I could never do. I can’t draw, my mind is not creative in that way, and I have no idea how to sew. But a girl can dream…and watch a show of amazingly talented people. Granted there have been numerous times, where this normal middle class girl does not understand why the judges hate some things I love or love some things I hate.

And who can deny the magnetism of Tim Gunn. I want to go to coffee and have a chat. Do you think he would let me record him saying “Make it work?” I would be ecstatic to make that my ringtone! And I would give him free rein to go through my closet and put me in any clothing he likes. As long as he promises not to get rid of all my sweatshirts.

This season I pinpointed 2 of my favorites before the first challenge even began.

Peach! No, she is not the princess from Mario Bros. She is the oldest contestant this season at the ripe age of 50. She hails from Lake Forest, IL. She stole my heart when she was introduced and she commented about being the oldest of the season, “Hells to the yeah!” She also reminds me of my mom and her friends.

Michael Costello! He is a 27-year-old designer from Palm Springs, CA. He of course said something that cracked me up, “Give me a burger and I will will whip up some couture.”  He has a warm personality and doesn’t take himself too seriously. In one of the videos on the shows site he talks about wearing a bubble jacket when you are feeling too bloated. I’m looking forward to lots of laughing out loud moments.

Luckily both of my favorites made it through the “final audition.” I’m not quite sure why they wanted to call it that because everyone still ended up on the show and got to design an outfit. I think if they were going to eliminate someone fast they should have done it right away at the Lincoln Center with a challenge, kind of like what Amazing race did a couple of seasons back.

I didn’t agree with the decision to get rid of McKell. I agree with Tim that the dress was cute. And there were other designers that did a lot worse. Even though I’ve got Italian pride, I would have kicked Jason off. And for some reason I can’t stand Casanova. So, I’m rooting for those two to go next.

A tip for watching the show, if you have DVR use it. I don’t know about you, but I get annoyed with things that are repetitive, i.e. Heidi reminding everyone what the winner gets, and the judges re-hashing what they already said when deliberating who to kick-off.

Who are your favorites so far? Happy Watching. And until next time…PEACE OUT!

PS Totally forgot to comment about the workroom. Loving the colors, purple and lime. Which are the colors of my bedroom. Woot!
