It’s been awhile. And I will post about my absence from writing on here in the near future. But today I really want to share about my sister. This post has been on my list to write ever since I began to blog. I know not everyone cares to read this post, but it is something on my heart and something I care to share.
Andreanna Christyne Miranda entered the world November 10, 1989. I was 5 and a half and so excited to be a big sister. Even if she did cause my modeling career to come to an end 😉 Annie was an interesting child. We have funny stories of when she was young where she would stick everything up her nose or how she stole/ate a whole dish of fudge and hid it under her bed.
When Annie began school our relationship began to be strained. We were sisters at war. We did not get along. It was mostly yelling matches and getting mad at the other using each others things without asking. This chaotic relationship lasted until I graduated high school. Don’t get me wrong. We did have our good moments. We didn’t fight every second, but we were not best friends.
When I left for college our relationship got better. I think we both realized how special a sister relationship can be and how we took living close to each other for granted.
But when I moved back to town to go to college locally, our relationship became somewhat strained again because of our differing opinions on life.
Throughout all this time, I think we both knew that we had each others back. Even if we weren’t on the best terms we knew that if the other needed something, we would be there in a second and do whatever we could for each other.
Now that I have moved half way across the country our relationship is a fun one. It is definitely the most healthy we have ever been. A big part of what helps our relationship is age. I believe whole heartedly (and with seeing how my mom and her sisters relationships have become) that as time goes on and we mature, our relationship will only get better. We have learned to not dwell on our differences that we see as negative, but to embrace who each other is and love them no matter what.
I just celebrated my 26th birthday back home in California. My sister came home for the night as a surprise and it meant a lot to me. For part of my present she wrote me a list of 26 reasons why she loves me. She made me cry, so you know it’s serious. And I thought I would share it with my own commentary (my words will be in italics):
1. We came out of the same womb (so I kinda have to).
2. Your favorite color is purple and it’s slowly rubbing off on me. YES! Everyone should love purple, haha
3. We both love FRIENDS. One of the best TV shows ever, I own all 10 seasons, as well as other FRIENDS memorabilia
4. The lip pose you do in the mirror. I don’t know how to stop, it’s a problem
5. You call on me for fashion advice. She got all those genes, thank God for Skype and picture texting
6. Your loud obnoxious sneezes. I can’t help it
7. Your kind a gentle heart.
8. Your crazy obsession with Twilight (that you always deny having). I think I have gotten a lot better
9. Your contagious smile.
10. Wrestling with you and winning 99% of the time.
11. You coming back to Cali. This has not been decided, so she can’t get too excited
12. Our undying love and bond we have for Disney. YES!
13. Dodgers. THINK BLUE
14. Notre Dame. Hoping for a new beginning this season.
15. Your willingness to take chances.
16. Your optimistic attitude even if you know how a situation will turn out.
17. Dedicating the month of may as your birthday month and celebrating throughout the month. Why only celebrate a day?
18. How easily you get frustrated when I use “Your mom” to you. “Annie! We have the same mom!” I HATE THAT
19. Your addiction to music in which you will need multiple iPods in the future to put all your music on. I certainly hope not. Apple should keep making things larger, so I don’t have to do that.
20. You’re a light weight. I think I’m really medium.
21. You dealt with all my craziness and still love me. Always & Forever
22. Your awesome talent to attract celebs. Thank you, but I’m hoping for a lot more.
23. Ellen lover. She is hilarious! And has such a great heart. I will see her show one day.
24. Accepting credit cards from you (ass swiping). HAHA, this one is a little graphic, and not as gross as it sounds
25. You’re a giver, there’s not enough fingers and toes in the world that can all the good you’ve done for people, it never goes unnoticed. Thank you Annie!
26. Being the best older sister a girl can ask for. You have been such a huge inspiration and role model for me. I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you. I am truly grateful day after day that I have such a beautiful sister inside and out! I just want to scream on top of the mountains…I love my sister!!! 🙂 Tear
Not a dry eye. I love my Annie and maybe when she turns 26 I will return the list.

That’s a really cute picture of y’all. You both look beautiful. 🙂
