Last night, for some reason, when I was falling asleep, my mind began to wander and went back to the early days of my childhood. In the 80’s Disney would play a short movie every Sunday night. It was one of the highlights of my week. As soon as I heard this intro. I was on my butt, on the floor, front and center awaiting the magical world of Disney.
There are 2 movies that stand out when I think back to those days. The first one that came to mind last night is the movie, Mr. Boogedy. I loved this movie! Even though it freaked me out a little as a kid, it was still one of my favorites. My parents even recorded it on a VHS for me, so I could watch it whenever I wanted to. It’s the story of a family moving to a new house, but are only informed of the houses tragic history after they arrive to move in. To sum it up without going on and on about it, the house is haunted, there is an eerie room that has a blue light, they find green gooey footprints on the walls, the devil steals souls in exchange for a magical cloak, and there is a little kid ghost that wants help (way before 6th sense). What more could you ask for? Here is a short clip:
My second favorite movie (actually it was originally a pilot episode for a new show…I would have loved it!) they showed, and I of course had it recorded on VHS, was called Fuzzbucket. It’s the story of a boy who has an imaginary friend, except he ends up being this real creature, but no one else can see him and no one believes him. To be able to see Fuzzbucket the boy has to make this concoction of stuff in a blender and then the friend drinks it and it appears. Every little kid wanted this to happen to them! The clip I found is kind of long, but its the only one I could find where you can actually see Fuzzbucket coming out of invisibility. So enjoy!
Did any of you use to watch Disney’s Sunday Night movies and have any favorites? Do you remember these one’s? I would love to hear about it 🙂 Oh and if you know where I can get these on DVD that would be great! Thanks.
Until next time…PEACE OUT!
Fuzzbucket! I love that movie!
I remember watching all of the disney sunday night movies. My family and I would watch and record them every Sunday night. It was a great family activity. I loved watching these movies especially help wanted kids, I man, richest cat, mr boogedy, and fuzzbucket. These are classic movies I remember watching with my older brothers over and over again. Just last month we watched help wanted kids again and it brought back many enjoyable memories. Since then, I have been looking to buy it and I found a website called ioffer.com. I haven’t purchased any yet, but I am anxious to.
I loved the Disney Sunday night movies too. We recorded them on VHS as well, but I lent one of my tapes and it never came home. Help me if you can. There was a movie where a group of high school (or maybe jr. high) kids go to spend a summer on an island as a school project. Enroute to the island, there is a plane crash, the school advisors die and the kids are left with the evil pilot…. and no one will know of their fate until summer is over and they don’t return home. I’ve check episode listings and can’t find the name of this episode so I hope anyone reading this can help!
It was called X Isle or Exile. I didn’t get the play on words at the time, so I don’t remember how it was spelled.
That movie was called The Exiled
